Install A Theme

Installing our themes is easy.

First, you will need a domain name and website hosting with a Wordpress feature. We recommend using Powweb. You can get your domain name (the .com, .net or .org, etc.) from them and the hosting space all in one.

Once you have purchased your domain and hosting with Powweb, you will need to install Wordpress. Go to your Powweb control panel by logging in with the details you entered during purchase. Then go to "Install Central" under "Scripting and Addons". Click on blogs and there you will be able to install Wordpress. The installation process is self-explanatory. Make sure to leave the section blank where it asks for "Installation Directory".

Log-in to your wordpress administration control panel and go to Appearance -> Themes -> Install Themes -> Upload. Then you will select the theme file you have downloaded from our site.

By the way, whenever you are trying to return to your wordpress control panel, just go to http://www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin

That's it. Crazy simple. If you use Powweb, or even with other hosting providers, you can likely call them and they'll walk you through it.

Uploading Your Own Logo Image File

If you do not have a graphical logo, and cannot create one, make sure to download our themes that say "With Text Logo".

If you do have a logo graphic, you will need it to be on a transparent background and saved as a PNG file. You can create this logo in Photoshop and save it by going to File->Save For Web. Then select PNG-24 under presets and make sure the transparency checkbox is marked.

We suggest making your PNG file size 278x68 pixels. You will need to name your logo file: logo1.png

Once you have your logo file, you will need to replace the current file on your website. The current file is located in the folder:

wp-content/themes/Recording and Mixing Studio Site 1 Logo/images/logo1.png

Your folder name may be slightly different because the themes are numbered differently. That's all -- the 1 might be a 4, it's nothing that should throw you off.

You will want to delete the current file and replace it with the one you have. You can use the File Manager on Powweb to accomplish this, if you chose them as your host. You can also use an FTP program such as FileZilla (it's free). You just need to enter your website's FTP details, go to that folder, delete the file and replace it with your own.

If you have trouble with replacing the file, you should call your hosting provider.

Add Social Media Icons

We went ahead and included free social media icon graphics with our free themes.

To have them look like our LiveDemo themes, it's just a couple of easy steps. First, log-in to your Wordpress control panel (remember, it's at http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin). Then go to Appearance -> Widgets. Click the small down arrow next to the "Sidebar_full" section on the right to open it. Under "Available Widgets" there is one listed called "Text". Click and drag it into the "Sidebar_full" section that you just opened. Click the small down arrow next to the "Text" you just dragged. To have it look like our LiveDemo, leave the Title box blank. Then, insert the following code into the main box below the title box:

<a href="http://www.facebook.com"><img src="http://www.yourwebsitename.com/wp-content/themes/Recording%20and%20Mixing%20Studio%20Site%201%20Logo/images/facebook.png"></a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com"><img src="http://www.yourwebsitename.com/wp-content/themes/Recording%20and%20Mixing%20Studio%20Site%201%20Logo/images/youtube.png"></a>

<a href="http://www.twitter.com"><img src="http://www.yourwebsitename.com/wp-content/themes/Recording%20and%20Mixing%20Studio%20Site%201%20Logo/images/twitter.png"></a>

<a href="http://www.myspace.com"><img src="http://www.yourwebsitename.com/wp-content/themes/Recording%20and%20Mixing%20Studio%20Site%201%20Logo/images/myspace.png"></a>

When you paste the code, make sure to replace the website addresses for facebook, youtube, twitter and myspace with your personal page addresses. Also, replace "http://www.yourwebsitename.com" with your website name.

Finally, and this is where things can get ugly -- you will need to replace the theme name and number, depending on which theme you downloaded. I have put this part in bold below:

You will need to do this for each place that you find this in the code. Replace the "1" with your theme number (unless, of course, you are using theme 1). When you downloaded the theme file, it was numbered with the same number you need to place here. Also, delete "Logo" if you are using a theme with the text logo at the top instead of a graphical logo.

We hope this doesn't trip you up, it really is simple -- but we wanted to make sure it was clearly explained.

Change The Front Page Greeting Text

This one is really easy. First, log-in to your Wordpress control panel (remember, it's at http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin). Then go to Appearance -> Theme Options.

Fill out the form there, and Voila.

If you have Feedburner, you can add in your address there to help publicize your site a little. If not, don't worry about it, it's just a little feature we decided to include.

Add/Edit Pages

This is also very easy. First, log-in to your Wordpress control panel (remember, it's at http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin). Then click on Pages.

It's self explanatory from there.

Create a News Item

First, log-in to your Wordpress control panel (remember, it's at http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin). Then click on Posts. This is where you can add your news items/posts. It's self explanatory.
